Kris Allen's self-titled debut album was released on Nov. 17, and most of it can be previewed on www.aolmusic.com. Buzz about this album prompted fans to wonder whether it would be a fan pleaser or nothing more than a disappointment.

The first single from the album is "Live Like We're Dying." The song has been called one of the best first singles released by someone who has competed on "American Idol." The song says, "You never know a good thing till it's gone / You never see a crash till it's head on." It is a clear reminder to be appreciative of the life that you've been given.

Also included on the album is Kris Allen's cover of Kanye West's song, "Heartless." Kris Allen performed this song while he was competing on "American Idol" and got wonderful reviews for it. The song is less R&B than Kanye West's original version, and it is more upbeat and pop-rock than The Fray's rendition of the song.

"Red Guitar" is one of the songs on the album that Kris Allen wrote prior to performing on "American Idol." It has quickly become a fan favorite for this very reason, so you can probably expect to see it released as a future single from the album.

All of the songs on the album consist of very catchy vocals and insightful lyrics. There is a combination of songs that are fairly upbeat and are about overcoming problems in a relationship, as well as a few heartfelt ballads.

The best thing about Kris Allen's album is probably that it's not at all consistent. It seems as though the songs have been strategically placed on the album to ensure that the listener will not get bored.

Many people have compared Kris Allen's debut album to Rob Thomas. Personally, it reminds me a lot more of something that you would expect to hear from Ryan Cabrera. In any case, there are many great songs on the album that might potentially be heard on the radio for years to come.

The Wal-Mart version of the album offers a bonus song called "Send Me All Your Angels," which features former "American Idol" contestant Chris Daughtry.

As someone who does not avidly watch "American Idol," I must say that this is one of the best albums I have heard from one of its contestants. I can only imagine how much more pleasing it will be for someone who became a fan of Kris Allen while watching the show.
