The Sport Management Club of East Stroudsburg University along with the Sport Personnel Management graduate class will hold its 7th Annual Golf Outing at the beautiful Water Gap Country Club on Friday April 25, 2003. This year's event will begin with registration at 12 p.m., a 2:00 p.m. shotgun start, followed by a 7:00 p.m. cocktail hour and awards dinner.

The day will be filled with golf competition, raffles, prizes, a grand buffet dinner, and an awards presentation highlighting the evening's festivities. This year's event will honor two of ESU's distinguished sport management alumni, Matthew Ford ('97) and Scott Verrier ('98).

Ford currently directs stadium and arena development for Hershey Sports and Entertainment, and Verrier is Director of Salesperson sampling and facilities manager for Puma.

ESU's Sport Management club is privileged to honor these accomplished co-recipients of the William Penney Distinguished Alumnus Award at this year's event.

Proceeds from this year's event will be donated to a fund to be established in memory of Jason Gotschall ('01), an alumnus whose life was tragically taken last November.

Jason worked with the U.S. Junior Golf Association, and to all of those whose lives he touched, we are better for the experience.

Some of the tournament' s features include four-person team, team scoring (best ball of four), team prizes, individual prizes (i.e. straightest drive, closest to the pin, longest drive), par 3 hole (make it within diameter of circle, win a prize), and hole-in-one prizes on all par 3s.

The investment for attending this year's event is $95 including golf, cocktail hour and dinner or $45 including dinner and cocktail hour only.

The Water Gap Country club golf course originally was famed as the Wolf Hollow Country Club, birthplace of the Eastern Open and host of a half dozen other major tournaments.

The course today is the same well-groomed test that confronted the golfing greats of the Golden Era of Sports. Golfers now tread in the footsteps of such immortals as Walter Hagen, Johnny Farrell, Gene Sarazen, MacDonald Smith, Willie MacFarland, and Leo Diegel.

The 18-hole Championship layout capitalizes on some of the Pocono's most picturesque terrain to present a truly challenging course.

And going hand in hand, are a professionally staffed and well-stocked pro shop as well as a large fleet of superbly maintained carts.

For additional Information about the ESU Sport Management Club's 7th Annual Golf Tournament, please contact Dr. Chris Saffici at (570) 422-3050 saffici@po-box. esu.edu.

Golfers as well as sponsors are welcome.
