For freshman males, meeting girls can be a hassle. We all have been there and know that being single and away from home is not easy. But there might be a place on campus where the girl ration is eight girls to one male. Want to know where?

Well, it's at the ESU Dance Studio. The class is called Social and Ballroom Dance, and it's a physical education course offered by Dr. Elizabeth Gibbons.

Her method to a fun class is adding a bit of dancing with some socializing for an overall great result.

Oh yeah, you get to dance with girls for an hour. Many of the guys in the class seem to enjoy that too.

Says Gibbons, "It's a great place to meet new people. Many Freshmen do not get the chance to interact in a large class, but this is a class where you are encouraged to talk to many different people."

Not only do you get to meet girls, but you also get to learn a different kind of dance terminology that you won't learn drunk one night at the Hoop.

Many learn how to swing, tango, fox trot, waltz, and much more. Many girls agree: a sexy man is a man who knows how to dance.

Well guys, here's your chance, and I can't even imagine a more fun physical education class where you get credits to dance with beautiful girls.

"It's just a fun class where girls and guys get to practice these timeless dances and have fun at the same time," says Gibbons.

Gibbons offers the class every semester during the fourth quarter and the class usually runs 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

For many, the class is a stress reliever and a chance to dance their problems away. For others, the knowledge of these classic dances adds to their own personal relationships.

For myself this was a chance to see what my grandparents have been raving about for all these years and it has even improved my own relationship.

That doesn't mean you need a relationship to benefit from this class.

"Everyone takes it for different reasons, but it's a wonderful way to meet new people."

Gibbons also offers adult ballroom dancing during the school year and summer for those not looking for credit physical education classes. the classes are usually offered at night for couples and individuals looking to learn how to swing, fox trot, cha cha, and tango.

The classes do not cost much and allows couples and individuals to experience a stress free activity and a good time.

So all you single men out there looking to meet someone new, forget the Hoop and look no further than ESU.

All you have to ask is "shall we dance?"
