The Campus Activities Board (C.A.B.) kicked off the first informational meeting last week in the University Center.

The room was filled with new and old members excited to get the fall semester underway with this years scheduled events, especially big productions like Henry Rollins and the Black Eyed Peas.

"I am just really excited to get involved with C.A.B. again this year," said Erin Little, an ESU senior. "I have been a part of the club for two years now and it's a fun way to get to meet new people and be a part of a lot of cool events!"

Each year C.A.B. sponsors and organizes many programs and shows on campus. Included in that list are: comedy and acoustic acts in Common Grounds and the Keystone Room, Bingo, Karaoke and trips to sporting events and shows, as well as big name speakers and concerts.

"This meeting's turnout had great results!" said Sarah Lloyd, President of C.A.B. "It's great to see all these returning, and new, faces at the information session. We usually break down the different committees and give a brief summary of what each one does, and then allow the students to choose which they would like to be a part of."

This semester's big events are going to be the return of Henry Rollins on October 14th and the Black Eyed Peas on November 15.

"We have a lot of confidence in Rollins' return because of how successful his last attendance was...you definitely don't want to miss out this time around," Said Lloyd.

"The last time we had Henry Rollins at ESU we actually had to turn people away at the door," said Pamela Wytrwal, the concert chairperson of C.A.B.. "We completely sold out the 900-plus seats in Abeloff and still had people lined up outside of the building to hear Rollins speak. It was a majorly successful turnout. It has been two years since his last visit and I wanted to be able to give his fans another chance to hear him speak."

"With these bigger-scale events planned, it is important that we have people who want to help. I think it is imperative for students to get active in the various clubs and organizations on campus," said Lloyd. "You might as well take advantage of the student activity fees that you pay as a student and take on a pro-active role on campus. If this week's turnout is any indication of this semester's success, things are started on the right track. Too many time students complain about the events rather than become part of a solution so it is good to see so many people wanting to become involved."

"Anyone is welcome to be a part of my committee or any of the CAB committees, just stop by our meetings Tuesday's at 10am or email me at esucabconcerts@hotmail.com," Said Wytrwal. "Rollins is coming up first and then the [Black Eyed] Peas and are both anticipated to be awesome experiences so come out and support these opportunities. Rollins will be in Abeloff and the Black Eyed Peas will be held at the Recreation Center. These are both big venues and require a lot of assistance so any amount is appreciated."

Look for advertisements around campus or pick up your tickets now for Henry Rollins, and soon for the Black Eyed Peas, in the University Center before it is too late!"
