Leaving campus Thursday afternoon to endure a ten hour bus ride to Columbus, Ohio where they stayed over night only to wake up to five more hours of draining mileage.

With only a few hours of sleep in her tank and tight legs from the 15 hour bus ride were not enough to keep Vanessa Andes from brining home some hardware, placing 3rd in the women's six-kilometer race. Andes finished eight seconds in front of Southern Indiana's Heather Cooksey, the national champion in the 3,000 meters last year. This meet was just a preview for Andes as the national meet will be held here like wise on Nov. 20th. Andes placed fifth at nationals last year, the best performance in school history.

The women's team finished ninth with 229 points behind a stream of team pack running. Jess Chong finished 41st in 24:42 followed behind her was Jane Grendel 47th in 24:51. Sophomore Trish Monteforte was 82nd in 25:51 with junior Kelly Brennan 85th in 25:53. Freshman Kristy Diriancho came in 94th at 26:07 with Clarissa Coolball 99th in 26:33 and Lindsay Dynow 100th in 26:33.

Tennessee-Chattanooga ran away from the stacked Division II field of runners with a score of 34 points, Kennesaw State was second (92) and Alabama Huntsville third (115).

A slew of injuries tightened the stride of the Warriors combing for 360points in a far 12th place. David Bracertty, Iuri Pinto and Dave Weikert were missing in action. Sophomore Jon Douglas led the way with a time of 26:58 for 57th. Matt Collins came back strong after suffering from a cold the past two weeks finishing 69th in 27:17 while 1500-meter stud, Drew Nesbitt finished 81st in 27:35. James Coomer closed the pack in 88th place for a time of 27:43.
It's back to logging the miles for the Warriors as they prep for the LaSalle Invitational this Saturday where they will battle other top tier Division I teams.
