The East Stroudsburg University Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Team returned to East Stroudsburg, PA as Regional Champions after participating in the New York, NY SIFE USA Regional Competition on March 26, 2010. The event was one of twelve SIFE USA Regional Competitions being held across the United States in March and April.

SIFE is an international non-profit organization active on more than 1,400 university campuses in 48 countries. SIFE teams create economic opportunities in their communities by organizing outreach projects that focus on market economics, entrepreneurship, personal financial skills, environmental sustainability and business ethics.

East Stroudsburg University team members attending the conference included: Amy Servey, a senior management major from Jenkintown, PA; Brienna Nye, a senior accounting major from Moscow, PA; Tina Coccodrilli, a senior marketing major from Havertown, PA; Jessica DiGregorio, a senior marketing major from Ridley, PA; Neil Messing, a senior marketing major from Marlboro, NJ; Gianna Morris, a senior management major from Queens, NY; Anna Shaiko, a junior accounting major from Philadelphia, PA; Kevin Barrick, a junior management major from Harrisburg, PA; Neil Cammarano, a junior management major from Piscataway, NJ; Mark Trebilcock, a senior management and economics major from E. Stroudsburg, PA; Daryl Brown, a junior management major from Jim Thorpe, PA and Mark Spengler, a senior hotel management major from Gilbertsville, PA.

ESU SIFE's Sam Walton and Dr. Kathleen Barnes lent their support to the team by organizing the event and attending the conference.

"Winning the title of regional champion this year was completely unreal. Our SIFE Team worked so hard and grew so much as individuals and as a team, but we never thought winning was possible. We were up against some tough competition, but in the end, all of those long hours, days and weeks really paid off. This was an amazing opportunity for all of us, and I am extremely proud of our entire team. SIFE for LIFE!" said Amy Servey, ESU's SIFE team President.

During this academic year, the East Stroudsburg University SIFE Team organized eight projects in the East Stroudsburg, PA community and university campus including a business etiquette workshop; a dress for business success fashion show held at The Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, PA and a regional leadership workshop for the local Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) high school chapters. Additionally, the SIFE Team worked with the Animal Welfare Society of Monroe County (AWSOM) shelter to create a marketing plan for the new animal shelter.

The SIFE national competition for the United States will take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota from May 11 – 13. Follow national event coverage on www.sife.org
