Earth and Bike Awareness Day festivities will be held at East Stroudsburg University on Friday, April 23 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on the Quad, located in the center of campus. The events, which ESU has scheduled for Friday, April 23, are open to the general public at no cost and will feature informational booths, speakers, live entertainment, a recycling fashion show (put on by students from East Stroudsburg High School South in conjunction with Youth Infusion), environmental game trivia and free giveaways. Earth Day's 40th anniversary is Thursday, April 22.
ESU Earth and Bike Awareness Day Celebration is sponsored by the Biology Club, Outings Club, Chem Club, Go Green Committee, Earth Day Committee and Stony Acres. The list of Earth Day Celebration activities include the following speakers and topics: Scott Dietrich and Jim Dellavale, "Using trails and bike centers to build a stronger, more active community;" Seth Partridge from Northeastern Forestry Concepts Incorporated, "Importance of Forestry Stewardship" and Shanon Williams, "Bats in Peril: The threats of wind farms and white nose." Entertainment includes: rock climbing wall, tie dying shirts, mountain bike obstacle course and bands: Dam Near killed them, The Paper Lanterns and Brian Aglira.
Should inclement weather develop, the event will move to the Keystone Room, located in the Center for Hospitality Management adjacent to the Quad.
